Beware of loan scams (part 76)
Here we go again…another customer called us to apply for a guarantor loan and asked us if we charged upfront fees. When we answered ‘no we don’t’, she asked us if ‘is that the truth?’ It appears that she applied for a loan and because she told the company concerned that she did have a guarantor to endorse her loan application, they told her that her loan was absolutely guaranteed and all she had to do was pay a fee and the loan would be in her account after a few days.
Anyway, after 4 days, no money was forthcoming and when this lady tried to call the loan broker who stole took her money, amazingly she couldn’t get through at first as she was on hold for just over 32 minutes. When she did eventually get through, she was told that the loan was on its way because this had been categorically agreed by guarantor loan provider Any Type of Loan!
We explained to this lady that we do not charge fees and never have done and that the broker she spoke to had absolutely no right to say that we have agreed her loan – after all, we don’t know who they are and have never spoken to them.
Please remember this golden rule every time you look for any type of unsecured loan;
• Check the company has a valid Consumer Credit Licence (CCL)
• Check they are a legitimate business with an actual office (not just on the internet)
• NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER pay an upfront fee to any loan broker.
• NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER give your debit or credit card details to any loan broker.
